Recovery Day 2! (Ellie blog)
This morning was a challenge… Mom put my antibiotics in cheese, but i wouldn’t eat it. I ate a bite of the cheese without the antibiotics on it… and then I wouldn’t eat my Tramadol either. Mom had to force me to do it. It stunk but she said i was a good girl afterwards, and I got a lot of kisses and belly rubs. I also didn’t want my Metacam either, which I normally love.

I ate some dog food this morning! about 1/4 cup! I’m hungry but not hungry at the same time. Mom puts the food by me and i get up and move away, so she’ll put some on the blanket by me.. and i eat it. I drank some water this morning already too! And went pee. I pee good on 3 legs, walk too. I never fall or stumble! My mom is so proud of me.
I was laying on her but i moved and am sleeping on the floor by her with my paw on her arm while she types. I just love her to be next to me. I can tell mom is thinking if she did the right thing, I think she did. I don’t want to be up with Jesus and Benz (moms old dog) yet, I want to be with her, I want to swim, and play with my mom. Anyway I’m really sleepy. I will update later. Oh. Did I mention i chewed that dumb plastic thing last night and took it off? I kept my stitches in though!

Ellie, what a sweet girl! I know when our Max first came home from surgery, he liked me to hand feed him his meals to get him started. Maybe that could work for you. And tell your Mom to buy some braunschweiger. It’s some kind of meat mix, and dogs love it, and it’s a great place to hide pills (but forget I said that part!). Tell your Mom she can buy this stuff at her local grocery store in the meat/deli section. Try it, you’ll love it, and I bet you’ll never know those darn pills are hiding in there!! Keep up the good work, Ellie!

My mom is awesome, she went out and bought me a little thing of yogurt ice cream, canned chunks dog food (the wet kind i love!), a big bag of Marrow Treats (bacon and cheese flavor!), and a small bag of toys (2 balls, a rope, and a long dog squeaky toy, which i took right away and am playing with!). I ate the whole can of Country Style dog food and mom put a new can of lamb and veggies, but i didn’t want that kind. I only ate half of my ice cream, i saving it for later! OH! And mom got me preservative free hot dogs 🙂
